After a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Moultonborough Academy Homecoming Parade returned with a new route! Students and community were happy to see the parade return after a hiatus last year due to COVID-19 pandemic. The parade’s theme this year was “ Shows”. The high school classes did a great job decorating floats and showing class pride. The Middle Level students also participated with costumes and props showcasing their Basecamp (Advisory) themes. The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade was Carol McKinley. “Being asked to be the Grand Marshall of the Homecoming Parade was a great honor for me. I loved seeing all the current MCS students and my former students who are now at MA. The memories of my forty years of teaching in this wonderful District came flooding back,” said McKinley.
This year’s parade inaugurated a new route for the traditional annual parade.
Moultonborough Central elementary students lined Blake Road as the floats and marchers left the Academy Drive and turned onto Blake Road. Community members applauded and cheered as the parade made a turn onto Route 25 and continued up Route 25 towards the school’s emergency access road to return back to the Academy. A thank you to the Moultonborough Police Department and New Hampshire Department of Transportation for their assistance with securing the parade route.
Thank you to the Moultonborough Police and Fire Departments for participating in the parade. Thank you to Etienne Vallee, Student Council Advisor, and MA Student Council for organizing a successful and memorable parade.
Winner of the parade was the Senior Class, Class of 2022, with Celebrity Family Feud.
