Congratulations to Moultonborough Academy 2023 graduate and current Merrimack College student Ryan Finnegan who was presented with the NHIAA (New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletics Association) “Walter A. Smith Award” at the NHIAA / NHADA Annual Meeting in Concord, NH, on Monday September 11, 2023. While a student at Moultonborough Academy, Ryan was a three sport athlete (golf, basketball and tennis) for the Panthers and is pictured below with his family, coaches and members of the administration from Moultonborough Academy. The NHIAA Walter A. Smith Award recognizes an individual who has overcome special circumstances and contributed significantly and positively to Interscholastic Athletics in New Hampshire.
MA teacher and coach, Chip Nyhan, who presented the award to Ryan, said “I am fortunate to know and to experience the gifts of life Ryan brings to the table on a daily basis. He’s a powerful, positive, living example of why we teach and why we coach.”
Stephanie Finnegan, Ryan’s mother, shared “We are all so very fortunate to have experienced the support and coaching of many wonderful coaches and teachers at Moultonborough Academy!”
