Students at Moultonborough Academy have the opportunity to earn college credits in high school by taking Running Start courses.  These are courses taught by MA teachers that are aligned with the curriculum and expectations of the Lakes Region Community College.  Running Start partnerships are promoted by the NH DOE in order to ensure high school graduates are college and career ready.  The numbers at MA for the 2023-2024 school year are impressive.

MA currently offers 12 Running Start courses spread out in 15 course sections.Of the 108 students in grades 10-12 eligible to earn RS credit (9th graders are not eligible), 78 of them are enrolled in a RS course.  This means that 72% of eligible MA students are enrolled in a college course taught by an MA teacher.

Impressively, the 78 students enrolled in RS courses this year are on track to earn a total of 119 college credits as about half of them are enrolled in more than one RS course.  Looked at another way, this means that there are more college credits being earned overall (119) than there are eligible students (108).
