February Fun in Physical Education

February was a very busy month for us in PE. We started with bowling/rolling for all grade levels. Bowling is a great way to learn and practice the skill of rolling. Bowling is also an awesome way to incorporate other classes into PE, such as math. Bowling reinforces simple addition and subtraction as they keep track of how many pins are knocked down. We also participated in an activity called “bowling for dollars” which gave the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students an opportunity to earn and count money while bowling. Thank you to the high school for letting us borrow your bowling lanes! Next, we worked on our fastest class challenge which is a running challenge that is all about cardiovascular endurance. Congratulations to Mrs Bo’s 4th grade class and Miss Pickman’s 1st grade class for being the two fastest classes of trimester 2. After that we were onto jump roping for all grade levels. Jump rope is an awesome form of exercise which is why Mr Hurley takes the time to introduce it to everyone. Students were challenged to make the kangaroo club, 1 minute club, and 2 minute club. It was so much fun that even some teachers stopped by to accept the challenge.
