Today students in Ms. Flanders’ African Literature class and students in Ms. Bliznik’s Spanish Culture class went to Concord to enjoy the Multicultural Festival! The students tried foods from various countries, participated in the flag carrying opening ceremony, listened to music and watched traditional dances from various countries, talked to vendors and shopped their crafts. A highlight was meeting the refugee children from Project Story and getting to hear about the ways the community supports their athletic endeavors and how this organization levels the playing field and makes the impossible possible for them. It was a great, eye-opening day that connected what we learn in the classroom to a real life experience.
