Yesterday there was a Gold Rush at our school! Our 5th graders were team leaders for students in all other grade levels. The teams went out in search of gold so that they can build the homestead of their dreams! Once a team found gold, they would choose two people from their team to go stake their claim with the map-maker while the rest of the team stays to guard the piece of gold. After the team members returned from the map-maker, the team can take their gold to the assessor to see the value of their gold piece. The assessor would give the team a piece of paper with the value of their gold and students could then take this to the bank to trade it in for money. Students could then go to the General Store to start buying supplies. Students could purchase lumber, tools, clothing, animals and much more…including popsicles!! Thank you to our amazing 5th grade leaders and to everyone for helping making this so much fun for all.
