Fifth-grade students Ever Sarnoff, Scout Chambers, and Luci Rudolph are committed to supporting writing at MCS. To meet this goal, they have created posters that support the writing process and found ways to celebrate writing throughout the halls of MCS. Writing letters to teachers as well as visiting classrooms, they have collected student writing and then displayed it throughout the halls of MCS. They plan and design how to present the writing pieces. For example, the Kindergarten students have a bulletin board with a hand decorated border. Their favorite project has been setting up the interactive “Spotlight on Writing” bulletin boards outside the teacher’s room. These displays are set with pockets for student writing and sticky notes for staff and student comments. Luci, Scout, and Ever wanted a way for writing to be celebrated and are so excited when they see students and staff sitting on the bench and reading student writing. Stay tuned for more ways that writing is being supported and celebrated at MCS!
