At the June 14, 2022, Moultonborough School Board meeting, the School Board recognized retiring educators with plaques, thanks, and cakes. This year’s cohort of retirees represent over a 150 years of combined service to the school district’s students: Mary Ellen Connell (32 years), MCS Music teacher; Cathie Hull (29 years), MCS Paraeducator; Cindy LeBlanc (17 years), MCS Paraeducator; James Stackhouse (25 years), MCS 1st Grade Teacher; Paige Sandy (20 years), MCS Paraeducator; and Carissa O’Gara (36 years), MCS Reading Specialist.
MCS Principal Kathleen D’Haene said a few words about each retiree as they received the plaque honoring their service. Prior to the start of the School Board meeting, the community celebrated the retirees at a reception.
The Moultonborough School District thanks our retirees for their service and wish them all the best in this next journey of their lives.
Our retirees:
Mary Ellen Connell has been making music at MCS for over 23 years. She has shared her love of music with countless students and families. She has inspired students to pursue their own talents and love of music. The many performances that she has pit on over the years have become beloved traditions such as “spring is in the Air” concerts, potato Races, and Veteran’s Day assemblies.
Cathie Hull has been instrumental in supporting the academic growth of so many fortunate MCS children. We appreciate the way that she steps up to help in any way needed; from tutoring students, to helping in the cafeteria, and to teaching a math lesson.
Jimmy Stackhouse has been a beloved 1st Grade and 4th Grade teacher for over 25 years at MCS. Whether he is teaching 4th Grade or 1st Grade, Mr. Stackhouse connected with students and created a loving community of learners. He delighted his students with his love of comics and superheroes, making them a part of his every day math lessons; he is our own superhero.
Carissa O’Gara has worked at MCS for over 36 years. She began as a para educator went on to become a special education teacher and then the Reading/Writing Specialist. Her enthusiasm and endless energy have been a mainstay of MCS for many years. Carissa O’Gara’s work will live on in MCS in the students she’s taught, the teachers she has coached and the parents she has supported.
Paige Sandy touched the hearts and minds of many young children. She is known for her quick wit and careful care as “Queen of the Book Room.”She has made a difference in the success of many children at MCS.
Cindy LeBlanc has worn many hats in her years if service: school bus driver, substitute teacher, classroom assistant, and paraeducator. No matter the job, she always gave 100%.
