At the Nov 7th Moultonborough School Board meeting, students made 2 presentations: MCS Gold Rush and Getting to Y. Moultonborough Central School 5th grade students presented on the Gold Rush activity held at MCS on Thursday Oct. 21. 5th grade students led teams of multi-grade students from pre-K through 4th grade. The fun activity supported developing relationships and collaboration across the grades and provided the opportunity for 5th grade students to practice leadership skills. Also presenting to the School Board were seniors Leah Haskins and Grace Burton, who shared about the Getting to Y program. The Getting to Y program empowers students and teaches them leadership skills to make the positive changes they want to see in their school community. By the end of the 2021-22 school year, the participating students learned to trust their capacities, learned to become agents of change, broadened their understanding of the problems that affect their peers in school, felt empowered to make positive changes in their school, and developed soft skills as well as leadership skills.
