On Nov 30, 2022, at the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference, Dawn Law, Moultonborough Middle Level Computer Science teacher and District assessment coordinator was awarded the 2022 Pay Keyes Technology-Using Educator Award from the New Hampshire Society for Technology Education (NHSTE). The Pat Keyes Technology-Using Educator Award is named for Pat Keyes a Keene secondary educator, who served also in many capacities for NHSTE, including as editor of the NSTE Connections newsletter. The award is given annually to a NH K-12 educator who provides effective instruction to students using technology, develops effective units that integrate educational technology and shares ideas in informal and formal ways. Dawn Law was nominated by MSD Eduction Technology Director Etienne Vallee.
Etienne Vallee said of Dawn Law:
As middle level math teacher with 38 years of classroom experience, Dawn began incorporating elements of STEM in her classes before it became part of the educational mainstream. For many years she has shared her excitement of technology and math with colleagues and students at all levels and in many ways. She is a well known, valuable resource for both staff and students and is frequently asked for help and support. Her interest in keeping abreast of emerging technologies combined with her willingness and enthusiasm to brainstorm ideas to integrate technology has benefited the entire school. Students connect learning from their STEM classes with their math and science coursework which has helped improve student performance. Her students that catch the technology bug in middle school enroll in computer programming and computer science classes in high school, and some choose to major in computer science at the college level.
