Moultonborough Academy Juniors will take SATs on Wednesday March 22. They join their counterparts across the state in participating in the School Testing Day sponsored by the College Board and NH Department of Education. All MA juniors should take the SATs on Wednesday as the SATs administered then are used in state’s evaluation of the district schools. A statewide assessment of juniors is required to meet the requirements of federal education law. The SAT is provided on State Testing Day at no charge to families and the results of the test can be used for the college admission process. At the time of testing, students may have the scores sent free of charge to 4 colleges of their choice. They should know the colleges before they arrive for testing.
The school district provides a nutritious breakfast to all testing juniors in the dining hall at 7:45 AM Wed. March 22, 2023. Testing will be completed by lunch. Water and snacks are provided during the testing breaks.
The SAT is now a digital test. We plan on using student laptops to complete the testing. A calculator is built into the testing software, but students may use their own calculator on designated questions.
We are often asked how can students prepare for the SATs. Research has indicated that the best preparation for the SATs is a healthy breakfast and a good night’s sleep. We encourage students to get at least 8 hours of sleep Tuesday night, and ask teachers to support the test and test preparation by refraining from assigning homework and major projects Tuesday and Wednesday.
