Students from Moultonborough Central School and Moultonborough Academy collaborated for a District Choral Concert on Tuesday, March 28th in celebration of Music in Our Schools Month. Each performing ensemble sang two songs, then came together for an all sing- along with some present and previous MSD staff members!
Moultonborough Central School Chorus started the concert with Kusimama by Jim Papoulis and Like the Beat of a Drum by Jay Althouse.
Moultonborough Middle Level continued the concert with A Distant Shore arranged by George Strid- conducted by student teacher, Olivia Perrault. Middle Level finished their performance with a brisk and energetic performance of J’entends Le Moulin (I Hear the Windmill) arranged by Emily Crocker.
Moultonborough Academy Concert Choir wrapped up the individual choir performances with JAM! (Jom-Ayuh-Mari!) an a cappella Malay piece with body percussion and Secret for the Mad originally performed by Dodie, arranged by George Chung.
The concert concluded with a district all sing of Homeward Bound by Marta Keen. The song included a soloist from each of the school choirs- MCS: Olivia Pedro, MA ML: Ava Markey, and MA Concert Choir: Amanda Paquin.
The MSD Choral Program is hoping to start a strong tradition of collaboration and singing between Moultonborough schools every March. Thank you to all who attended.
“The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) recognizes March as the thirty-eighth annual Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®). This March, music educators and music students will be celebrating music education in their school communities demonstrating how the theme “Music Is All of Us” resonates with them.”
