Moultonborough Middle Level welcomes new science teacher Karen McAlpine. Ms. McAlpine has a Biology degree with a Botany minor from the University of Maine, Orono, and a degree in Elementary Education. After completing the TEAMS (Teacher Educators Alliance for Middle Schools) program she was licensed in K-8 and Middle level social studies, math and science, as well as high school Biology. She has taught in public school, residential and non-profit settings in a few different states, with the majority of her time teaching Science and Mathematics at the middle level. Ms. McAlpine is “very excited to be teaching Science as part of the Middle School team.” She will be teaching Grade 7 and Grade 8 science classes at MML.
Ms. McAlpine also expresses a love of outdoors. Her work experience outside the classroom includes working as a landscape architect on the seacoast from Newburyport to Ogunquit and as a park ranger in Acadia National Park. She developed a STEM/Nature program called Adventure Science at a previous teaching position. She participates in many different outdoor sports, including swimming, cycling, and hiking.
