81% of Moultonborough Academy’s class of 2024 scored proficient on the ELA portion of the SATs taken in March 2023. The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) from the College Board is used as the New Hampshire State education assessment for high school students. All students in the class of 2024 took the exam in March of 2023. 81% of those students scored in the highest tier (proficient). The ELA portion of the SAT test is an assessment of students’ reading and writing proficiency. It is composed of a multiple choice questions often on excerpts of complex grade level texts, and a separate writing portion that includes a written essay. The questions on the test are aligned with NH Career and College Readiness Standards.
Students take the exam in the spring of their junior year. Though it is a state assessment, the exam is the same SAT administered to juniors and seniors who take it as a part of their college application process. Students may use the state SAT results in their college application process, thus saving them time and money. School district administrators
and teachers use the results to inform curricular and instruction decisions.
