In March 2023, all of MA’s 11th grade students took the School Day SATs in Literacy (Reading/Writing) and Mathematics, as is required by the state of New Hampshire. The results of the SchoolDay SATs are used by many states, including New Hampshire, to evaluate high schools according to federal law. Federal law requires that at least 95% of a school’s 11th grade students must take the state assessment (in this case SAT); these students include English-language learning students, students with individual learning plans, and students not going to college. We are proud that 100% of our students took the SAT in March 2024.
Moultonborough Academy students continue to do well on the SATs, out- performing most schools across the region, state, and nation, with few if any of our students performing at the lowest level. Student SchoolDay SAT scores are used to identify the student achievement level as: exceeds proficient, proficient, approaching proficient, and low. On the reading/writing SAT test, MA scores ranked 3rd in the state for percentage of students scoring in the proficient (or better) range. 81% of MA students scored proficient or better, while 59% of students across the state scored proficient or better. MA had a greater percentage of students proficient or better than any other Lakes Region high schools.
On mathematics test, 41% of MA students scored proficient or better; while only 35% of students across the state scored proficient or better. Only 23 high schools across the state had their percentage of students scoring “proficient or better” exceed MA. (The best performing school scored had only 86% percent of students scoring proficient or better.) MA’s percentage of students scoring proficient or better was higher than 60 high schools across the state. Among the 14 Lakes Region high schools, MA is one of 4 high schools with the highest percentage of students scoring proficient or better. Less than 10% of MA students scored in the low category in both mathematics and literacy.
School Day SATs is the same as regular the SAT test. Students may use School Day SAT scores for college applications and scholarships. Students receive a score for each SAT test based on a scale of 200- 800 points. The 2023 Mean for School Day SATs scores are in the table below.
