English teacher, Amy Flanders, took a creative, community approach to help her students prep for SAT and AP Language exams.  She went through and picked out words that appear frequently on those exams. Then, each student in AP Language made a poster for one of the words (photos below). Every few days, she puts up a couple of posters, teach those words to the students, and have them write the new words/definitions in their mini notebooks.

The weekly words are sent out to the school community, so the staff can try to use the words around her students.  The students use their notebook to also keep track of all the times they hear or read the word outside of class.  Ms. Flanders will randomly check their notebooks and reward prizes for most notations of the words.
