As we start school, it is a good time to reflect on our summer in the Moultonborough School District. Far from quiet, the district buildings were used by students, educators, and community throughout the summer of 2022. The district programming for students this summer included Summer Blast ‘22 in July (our summer learning program for students in K-5) and competency recovery at the Academy for our students in grades 9 – 12. For educators, the distri
ct welcomed new staff with onboarding in July and offered professional development activities during the Summer Curriculum Institute in August.
The buildings were also used for the Moultonborough Town Recreation department summer program (July and August), for driver’s education courses (July and August), and for Camp Invention (August). The Academy also served as an emergency shelter for 250 campers and staff after a destructive July storm (see more on that story here.)
The Community Auditorium, as we call it the “Audi”, hosted a number of community events through the summer, including local theater productions, an active shooter training, and a performance fundraiser for Max Porusta.
Both Moultonborough Central School and Moultonborough Academy buildings were used regularly by the district and the community during those “quiet” summer months. Even with all the hustle and bustle, the custodial staff at both schools were able to have the rooms, offices, and halls ready for our opening day September 6th!
