It’s time for Gold Rush! Here at MCS, the afternoon event was kicked off and lead by the 5th graders with a play! The event was themed around the western expansion of the United States in the 19th century. During this excellent performance, we all learned about the process of our main Gold Rush event. Students would assemble in groups across all grade levels and head out to the playground where they would search for gold nuggets thrown across the ground. The groups would then take the nuggets to the Assessors, Map Makers, and the Bank where they would exchange for cash to purchase more items at the General Store for cultivating more gold. Lurking along the playground were a few bandits waiting to steal gold from anyone in their path! Not to worry because Sheriff D’Haene and Deputy Weeks were there to stop these bandits from robbing the cultivators. Anyone could be thrown in jail for leaving their group, running, or even presenting fake gold to the assessors.
All in all, we had an amazing Gold Rush this year. A big thanks to everyone involved to make this a special day. Enjoy the pictures and especially the video of the Gold Rush play on our Facebook!
